Flexi-Hex

A simpler, lighter and sustainable method of protecting products.

How is it an example of correct material lifespan?

Flexi-hex is a plastic alternative to conventional bubble wrap, used when transporting products. It is formed from cardboard, in the iconic honeycomb shape, when expanded to increase strength and durability. Traditional protective packaging wrapping made from plastic is used on a one time basis, to be thrown to landfill within minutes of receiving -  to then slowly leach microplastics into the eco-system for the next 500+ years.

Each tonne of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic metres of landfill space, 4000 KW of energy and 7000 gallons of water.”

What else are Flexi-Hex impermenting through their product?

Flexi-Hex has used a disruptive method of thinking, using design strategies such as dematerialising and correct choice of material has enabled the product to be lightweight, adaptable for multi products, fully recyclable and to break down (biodegradable) on a trajectory aligned to real time needs of the protective layer.

Our adaptable packaging solution is plastic-free, made from 100% recycled material and has a minimal amount of printed surface. The PVA adhesive is non-toxic and under the right conditions will biodegrade in 6 weeks. The product itself can be reused up to 5 times.”
