Stella McCartney

Reutilisation of surplus cotton.

How is it a sustainable material?

Stella McCartney has teamed up with innovative sustainable company Evrnu to turn old clothing into new garments in an attempt to address waste in the fashion industry.

The material NuCyul is derived from discarded clothing and fabrics, which are chemically recycled, to make new fabrics, which can be regenerated multiple times without loss of quality. Virgin cotton is still required during the process, however this is on a much lower quantity and results in a much stronger material compared to that of just virgin cotton.

What other sustainable benefits does NuCyul implement?

NuCyul is a great use of chemical recycling, showcasing how new products can be made from majority surplus materials, stopping degradation of fabric and amount reaching landfill.
