Wagamama

Switching out to a new material

How is this an example of alternative material selection?

Wagamama updated their takeaway packaging to reduce its impact and improve the performance of the packaging. Transitioning from virgin PP (polypropylene) to 70% recycled PET reduced the virgin plastic use by 330 tonnes each year. By using a crystalized version of PET, this provided better performance when being used for hot food. The colour of the takeaway packaging was changed from a charcoal grey to a mushroom shade to increase the desirability of the plastic for recycling at end of life.
